Shopify pricing
A new UK shop on Basic is £25 a month, or £19 a month if you pay yearly. Card payments are extra. Grow and Advanced cost more and take a smaller cut of each sale.

The intro price is not the plan price
Shopify’s UK page currently offers 3 days free, then £1 a month for 3 months. The US offer is the same shape: 3 days free, then $1 a month for 3 months. After that, the normal plan price applies. Budget for the normal price.
UK prices
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly, per month | Online cards | Extra staff |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | £25 | £19 | 2% + 25p | None |
| Grow | £65 | £49 | 1.7% + 25p | 5 |
| Advanced | £344 | £259 | 1.5% + 25p | 15 |
Plus starts at £1,800 a month and is a different sales process. It is not the plan this guide is for.
US prices
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly, per month | Online cards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $39 | $29 | 2.9% + 30¢ |
| Grow | $105 | $79 | 2.7% + 30¢ |
| Advanced | $399 | $299 | 2.5% + 30¢ |
Plus starts at $2,300 a month. POS Pro, for a staffed shop counter, is £69 or $89 a month per location on top of the plan.
What else you pay
- Card fees on every order, at the rate for your plan. The 25p or 30¢ is per transaction.
- A third-party payment provider adds another fee if you do not use Shopify Payments: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced, in both the UK and US tables.
- Apps and paid themes, if you install them. A new store can launch on the free theme with no apps.
- A domain, if you want your own name. Shopify gives you a myshopify.com address either way.
When Grow costs less than Basic
On UK monthly billing, Grow is £40 more than Basic and charges 0.3 percentage points less on online cards. The fee saving covers that £40 at about £13,300 of card sales in a month. On yearly billing the gap is £30, which is about £10,000 of card sales.
That sum ignores staff accounts. If a second person needs their own login, Grow is the reason, even when sales are lower. Advanced is £279 more than Grow on UK monthly billing and saves another 0.2 points, which only pays for itself at very high card volume. People take Advanced earlier for 15 staff accounts or live third-party shipping rates.
Which plan to pick
Basic
One person, first products, online orders. Ten inventory locations are included on Basic, Grow, and Advanced, so a second stock location is not a reason to upgrade.
Grow
You need up to five extra staff accounts, or your card sales are past the break-even above.
Advanced
A larger team, or you need carrier-calculated shipping rates at checkout. Skip it on day one.
You can change plan later. Commission is paid on Basic, Grow, and Advanced after a full-price month.
Questions
Is the £1 month the real cost?
It is a short intro. The prices in the tables are what the plan costs after that.
Can I cancel?
Shopify’s pricing page says you can cancel. Read the terms in checkout if you take a longer Plus contract. Plus is not needed to open a normal store.
